Royals Fall to Falcons on the Road in River Falls, 3-1

 
RIVER FALLS, Wisc. — The Bethel University volleyball team dropped their Friday night matchup with the UW-River Falls Falcons 3-1. Losing the first two sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-9, winning the third set 25-21 before dropping the fourth set 25-11. With the loss the Royals fall to 1-2. 
 
The Royals grabbed a 9-6 lead early in the first set thanks to a kill from Ellie Van Namen, Bethel later extended their lead to 17-11. But a 7-2 Falcon run allowed them to take the lead winning the opening set 25-23. 
 
The Falcons controlled play in  the second set, limiting the Royals to a -0.08 hitting percentage.  Finding themselves down 9-3 early in the second set, the Royals  were unable to recover, dropping the set 25-9. 
 
BU bounced back in the third set, grabbing a 7-4 advantage to start thanks to a kill from Eleanor Pelzel. A 0.263 hitting percentage and a 6-2 run to close it, allowed the Royals to win the third set 25-21. 
 
The fourth set didn't go the Royals way however. A 7-2 Falcon run t0 start put the Royals behind early. Bethel battled however, closing the gap to 10-7 on a kill from Eleanor Pelzel, but a 14-2 Falcon run put the Royals down 24-9. Bethel went on to lose the set 25-11 and the game 3-1. 
 
Grace Solberg and Peyton Howie each tallied 10 kills for the Royals on Friday night. Eleanor Pelzel recorded 8 kills of her own and Ellie Van Namen racked up 4 kills to go along with 16 assists.

The Royals will look to bounce back against Simpson College on Saturday in River Falls. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
