In an impressive display of skill and teamwork, the Bethel women's soccer team secured a 4-1 victory over St. Scholastica. The match was characterized by a strong offensive performance and resilience in defense.
How It Happened:
- The Royals started the game with determination as Malia Beilby and Hannah Kvant were active early on, with Beilby taking a shot just minutes into the game. Despite a few close calls, it was St. Scholastica who struck first in the 10th minute when Abigail Shrode scored, putting the Saints ahead 1-0.
- Bethel responded with pressure, including shots from Anna Sukle and Jessica Oliver, but couldn't find the equalizer until the 40th minute. Kvant, assisted by Beilby, scored a well-timed goal to level the match at 1-1 just before halftime.
- The second half began with Bethel on the attack. In the 53rd minute, Kvant scored again, this time assisted by Sukle, giving Bethel a 2-1 lead. Beilby had several attempts, testing St. Scholastica's goalkeeper, Gracie Meagher, who made tough saves to keep her team in the match.
- Bethel's persistence paid off in the 77th minute when Chloe Erickson found the net, assisted by Jessica Oliver and Kvant, extending the lead to 3-1. The Royals continued to press, and in the 85th minute, Beilby scored her own goal, assisted by Kvant and Oliver, sealing the victory at 4-1.
