Two goals from
Jessica Oliver, who totaled seven goals this week, paced the Bethel women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over the University of Wisconsin-Stout Blue Devils. The Royals move to a 4-0-1 record on the season, tying their 2023 total season wins just five games into the season.
How It Happened:
- Malia Beilby led the charge down the field in the 20th minute, maneuvering around defenders and laying the ball off to Avery Littlefield, who launched the ball from the right side of the field over to the feet of Oliver in front of the net. A well-timed touch from Oliver sent the ball rocketing past the Blue Devils' goalkeeper and into the back of the net to put the Royals up, 1-0.
- The next 70 minutes saw tense play between the teams as the Blue Devils looked for an equalizer and the Royals to extend their lead, but no goals were scored. As the final seconds ticked away, Maya Eidenschink threw the ball in to Oliver, who skirted around three Blue Devil defenders and lofted a shot off with her left foot from just outside the 18-yard-box. The ball sailed in towards the net, banking off the far left post and ricocheting into the Blue Devil net.
