The No. 22nd-ranked Bethel University softball team is set to open up the Pella Regional against WIAC Tournament Champion and No. 15th-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
 
BU will face off against the winner or loser of game one which features the host and No. 25 Central, who earned an at-large bid, and UMAC Champion Wisconsin-Superior.

ROYAL NOTES

• BU enters the tournament with a 30-9 overall record, marking the third consecutive season with 30 or more wins.
• Under head coach Penny Foore, now in her 10th season, the Royals have had a 25-plus win season in six of those years.
• Bethel captured a share of the 2024 MIAC regular season title, making them the first program since St. Thomas to win three consecutive regular season titles. It's also the first time in conference history with a three-way tie for first. BU shared the title with Saint Mary's and Saint Benedict, both of whom made the NCAA Tournament. The Royals now have won four conference titles in program history.
• The Royals enter the NCAA Tournament having won 13 of their last 15 games.
• Kayla Simacek currently leads the nation in strikeouts with 228 and victories with 25. Her 1,161 career strikeouts are 10th all-time while her 111 victories are tied for eighth all-time in DIII.
