ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - The Royals won 7 events at their home meet, the Bethel Invitational on Saturday, April 13.
Abbie Swenson won the javelin throw with a personal best toss of 39.15m / 128'5". Swenson now ranks 23rd in Division III and is number 2 in the javelin in program history.
Annessa Ihde showed why she earned All-American honors in the indoor 800m, winning the half mile race in 2:12.36. Ihde pulled away from the field in the 2nd lap, winning by over 2 seconds. Her time ranks her 9th in Division III.
Jireh Babalola had a terrific day in the short sprints, winning the 100m in 12.13 seconds, and taking 3rd in the 200m dash in 25.40. Babalola's time in the 100m ranks her 25th in Division III.
Shalom Sulungaine won her first career race at 400m, running 58.04 seconds, which ranks her 47th in Division III. Reanna Cruz took 2nd place with a personal best time of 59.40.
Kelsie Sealock won the 100m hurdles, winning in 14.02 seconds. Ellie Hernes took 5th place running 15.44 seconds.
Emily Pearson won the pole vault with a clearance of 3.46m / 11'4.25", making her the number 2 pole vaulter in program history. Raina Kaping took 3rd place clearing 3.31m / 10'10.25".
The 4x400m relay team of Sealock, Sulungaine, Swenson, and Ihde won the 4x400m relay by more than 10 seconds. Their time of 3:53.69 is the 9th fastest in Division III this year.
Ellie Hernes had a season best in the triple jump, leaping 11.42m / 37'5.75", to take 2nd place. She now ranks 32nd in Division III.
In the short relay, Babalola, Swenson, Kaping, and Hannah Kvant took 3rd place in the 4x100m relay, running 48.95.
Nora Wilhelm threw a season best 12.63m / 41'5.25" to take 5th place. Wilhelm also took 7th in the hammer with a personal best 46.92m / 153'11". Anna Speratos was 8th in the discus with a personal best toss of 36.38m / 119'4".
Bethel received solid performances in the 400m hurdles as Hannah Kvant and Jessie Smith both ran personal best times. Kvant was 5th in 65.50 and Smith was 7th in 66.45. Kvant's time ranks her 44th in Division III.
AnnaGrace Nelson took 7th in the long jump with a leap of 5.12m / 16'9.75". Hannah Moe took 8th place in the high jump with a personal best jump of 1.50m / 4'11".
The Royals will compete next at St. John's on Friday and Saturday, April 19-20.
