ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Sophomore forward
Tyler Kostelecky has been named a West Second Team All-American, announced by American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) Wednesday evening. The CCM Hockey/AHCA All-American Hockey Teams are sponsored by CCM Hockey and chosen by members of the American Hockey Coaches Association.
Kostelecky is the Royals first All-American selection since Jared Gustafson's second team selection in 2001.
The Maple Grove, Minn. native made history earlier this month being named the program's first-ever MIAC Offensive Player of the Year honoree along with being named to the All-MIAC team. He tallied 13 goals on the year while adding 13 assists for 26 points. His five game-winning goals ranked fourth nationally and two short-handed scores ranked fifth nationally heading into the postseason.
He was plus-11 this year on ice and only took one penalty all season. In conference games he had a MIAC-leading nine goals to go along with seven assists that gave him 16 points, which was second in the conference. He had four game winning goals, three of which came in overtime. Against MIAC opponents he did not take a single penalty and was plus-six.
Kostelecky helped lead BU to a program-best winning percentage with a .704 mark and an 18-6-3 overall record which tied the single-season wins record.
