RESULTS
REDLANDS, Cali. - The Royals won 4 events as Bethel opened their outdoor season at the Redlands Invitational in California.
Bethel swept the podium in the 5000m run. Josie Harms ran a personal best 18:17.22 and led the race wire-to-wire. Laura Hardwick took 2nd in a personal best time of 18:40.32 as she pulled away from teammate Annessa Ihde in the final mile. Ihde, fresh off her All-American performance in the 800m, took 3rd in 18:52.17.
The Royals also went 1-2 in the 400m dash. Hailey Gregg won the race in a personal best time of 58.74. Abbie Swenson took 2nd place in a personal best 59.70, dipping under a minute for the first time. Reanna Cruz took 5th in 61.61.
Kelsie Sealock won the 100 meter hurdles handily for her first victory of the outdoor season. Sealock ran 14.18, winning by 0.63 seconds.Â
Freshman Emily Pearson tied for 1st place in the pole vault. Pearson cleared all of her bars on the first attempt, including the top height of 3.35m / 10'11.75'. Raina Kaping was 5th as she cleared 3.00m / 10'0".
Ellie Hernes earned 2nd place the triple jump with her leap of 11.37m / 37'4.5". Jessie Smith took 3rd in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 68.96. Esther Nelson returned from injury to take 6th place in the 1500m run with a time of 5:20.85. Jireh Babalola was the top Division III finisher, and 8th overall in the 100m dash with her time of 12.23 seconds.
The Royals will compete next at the Hamline Invite on Saturday, April 6th.
