Gene Glader Classic
ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - The 17th ranked Royals won the Gene Glader Classic on Saturday with a total of 257 points, beating 2nd place North Central University who finished with 69 points. Bethel took 1st place in events.
Raina Kaping took 1st place in the 60 meter dash with a personal best time of 8.01 seconds.
Jessie Smith set a personal best in the 400 meters by over a second, earning her the win in 61.27 seconds.
Grace Robinson won the 600 meter run in a time of 1:47.36 as she led wire-to-wire. Teammate
Larissa Minshull was 2nd in a personal best time of 1:49.79.
The Royals got another 1-2 finish in the 1000m run.
Ruby Gernandt won the race in a time of 3:09.98, while
Anna Cargill was 2nd in 3:10.33.
Senior
Laura Hardwick won the 3000m run in a personal best time of 11:12.90 and
Grace Morningstar was 2nd in a time of 11:53.36.
The 4x200m relay team of
Jireh Babalola,
Abbie Swenson,
Hailey Gregg, and
Hannah Kvant won the race in a time of 1:46.28.
In the field events,
Nora Wilhelm threw a season best 12.72m / 41'8.75" to win the shot put.
Anna Speratos took 2nd place in the weight throw with a personal best toss of 16.11m / 52'10.25". That throw ranks 43rd on the Division III honor roll.
Bethel took 1st place in all 4 jumping events.
Ellie Hernes won the high jump (1.47m / 4'9.75"),
Anna Gardeen won the pole vault (2.76m / 9'0.5"),
Jordan Stanislowski won the long jump (4.84m / 15'10.5"), and
Ally Tyvoll won the triple jump (10.06m / 33'0.25").
Bethel also sent several athletes to compete at the University of Minnesota's Snowshoe Open on Friday evening.
Jireh Babalola won the 60 meter dash in a personal best time of 7.78, just 0.01 ahead of 2nd place. Her time is now 35th on the Division III honor roll.
Kelsie Sealock brought home another victory for Bethel, winning the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.61 seconds. Sealock remains the national leader in the event going into conference championship weekend.
The freshmen pole vault duo of
Emily Pearson and
Raina Kaping both had personal bests. Pearson took 4th with her clearance of 3.57m / 11'8.5", just 1cm under the program record. Kaping took 5th as she cleared 3.41m / 11'2.25".
The Royals hope to carry this momentum into the
MIAC Championship at St. Olaf this coming weekend. Competition begins with the men's heptathlon and women's pentathlon on Thursday. The Championships get underway with full teams on Friday with field events beginning at 2:30 pm and running events starting at 4:00 pm.
