The Bethel men's soccer team pummeled the Augsburg University Auggies in a dominant 6-0 performance. The win moves the Royals to an 8-6 record on the season and 4-3 in the conference.
How It Happened:
- Jordan Ross kicked things off just nine minutes into the first half after a turnover by the Auggies in the attacking third gave him perfect position in front of the net. A quick bullet to the bottom corner put the Royals up, 1-0.
- A penalty in the box gave Ryan Swanda an opportunity to expand the Royals' lead, and a steady drive into the lower right corner did just that at 14:48.
- At 24:03, the Auggie goaltender blocked a shot from Nathan Hunt, but Jordan Oberholtzer was there crashing the net and knocked it in to grow the lead to 3-0, Royals, heading into the half.
- The second half saw the same dominant performance from the Royals as Oberholtzer did the same thing at 47:28, deflecting a cross from Ross past the goalkeeper to widen the Royals' lead.
- The offense saw a variety of players get on the board as Jack Hanson earned a goal of his own after a long ball from Roy Kyle granted him a breakaway. Hanson sped past the Augsburg defenders and rocketed the ball past the goalkeeper for the fifth Royal goal of the night in the 82nd minute.
- Carter Sheard rounded out the Royals' scoring efforts as he managed to knock the ball in off of a corner kick from Kyle at 83:05.
- A stellar performance by BU goalkeeper Griffin Blokker and the Royals defense kept the Auggies from getting on the board at all, and the final score was 6-0, Royals.
