BLAINE, Minn. – A lone third period goal decided the game between the Bethel women's hockey team and their opponents, the St. Catherine University Wildcats. The teams competed in a non-conference friendly matchup before their upcoming weekend series set for the 9th and 10th of February that will count towards MIAC play. The 1-0 victory pushes the Royals to a record of 10-6-1 as they head back into conference competitions this weekend.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The first period was quiet and tense as the Wildcats fought for a slight edge over the Royals, outshooting them 11-6, and the second period mirrored it with the Royals managing three more shots on net and the Wildcats nine.
• At last, the Royals broke onto the scoreboard ten minutes into the period. Fresh into a power play,
Kallie Abrahamson won the faceoff in the Wildcats' defensive zone, and
Megan Johnson stepped in to knock a pass back to
Lindsey Muntifering, who snapped a crisp shot from just past the blue line and into the back of the net.
• With only a narrow one-goal lead, the Royals relied on goaltender
Lexi Holman, who came up big with 26 saves in her debut at BU, and the team took home the win.
