Bethel Falls to Gustavus in MIAC Quarterfinal Matchup

ST. PETER, Minn. – The Bethel University women's hockey team concluded its 2025-26 season Wednesday evening with a 0-2 loss to Gustavus Adolphus in the MIAC Quarterfinals at Don Roberts Ice Rink.

Gustavus struck early, scoring just 2:50 into the opening period to take a 1-0 lead. The Gusties extended their advantage early in the second period, adding another goal only 27 seconds into the frame to make it 2-0.

Despite the early deficit, Bethel continued to battle throughout the night and generated several quality offensive opportunities. The Royals recorded 26 shots on goal, including nine in the third period alone, as they pushed to cut into the lead. Bethel's strongest stretch came during a first-period power play when the Royals fired four shots on net and applied sustained pressure in the offensive zone, but were unable to find the back of the net.

Senior goaltender Ashley Gustafson (Hess) anchored the Royals defensively, turning aside 18 shots and helping keep Bethel within reach. The Royals' defensive effort allowed Bethel to remain within striking distance, but Gustavus held on to secure the quarterfinal victory.

Bethel showed resilience throughout the contest, continuing to compete through the final horn and refusing to back down against the conference's top-seeded team.

The Royals conclude the season with a 14-10-2 overall record. Bethel finished the regular season on a strong note, winning five of its final seven games to earn a return trip to the MIAC postseason.

Wednesday's contest also marked the final collegiate game for Bethel's senior class. Their leadership and commitment played a key role in the Royals' success this season and helped position the program for continued growth moving forward.
