Royals Draw with Foresters

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - The Bethel women's soccer team hosted the Lake Forest University Foresters in a competitive match that ended in a 1-1 draw. The Royals moved to 2-0-1 on the season. 

 

How It Happened

  • Bethel out shot Lake Forest 18 to 9, and put up 9 shots on frame to the Foresters' 6. 

  • Lake Forest struck first, converting their own goal kick in the 28th minute into a quick trip up the field and sneaking the ball past senior goalkeeper Izzy Smith with a low left shot. 

  • The Royals responded in the 37th minute when senior captain Abby Swanda's shot was deflected and knocked in by sophomore Malia Beilby. 

  • Bethel kept the pressure on Lake Forest in the second half, looking to convert seven corner kicks into goals but falling short. 


What's Next

The Royals travel to Northfield, Minnesota to take on the St. Olaf College Oles in their first MIAC match of the year. Game time is set for 4 p.m. Tuesday, September 12.
