ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Ellie Hernes and the women's 4x100m relay team both set program records at the Midwest Twilight Qualifier hosted by Augustana College on Thursday evening.
Just like the indoor season, the freshman Hernes set the program record in the triple jump on her final attempt of the year. Hernes jumped 11.83m / 38'9.75" into a headwind to break Rachel Kalk's record from 2013. She took 3rd place overall and will finish 27th on the national honor roll.Â
The 4x100m relay team of Jireh Babalola, Kelsie Sealock, Makenna Brown, and Sarah Stellmach ran a terrific race and took 5th place in a program record time of 47.09. That group will finish the season 18th in Division III, just 0.04 off of the final qualifying spot.Â
Babalola and Stellmach both race individual sprint races as well. Babalola took 3rd in the 100m with a time of 12.12, and Stellmach was 4th in the 200m in 24.78. Annessa Ihde ran a season best of 2:13.72 to take 8th place in the 800m run. Nora Wilhelm ended her season with a personal best throw of 41.98m / 137'9" in the discus - the 3rd best toss in program history.
