ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Royals won two events and Jessica Lilland set a new program record in the pole vault at the Holst Invite on Saturday, April 22nd at Concordia-St. Paul.
Jessica Lilland broke her own program record from 2021 as she cleared 3.55m / 11'7.75" in the pole vault as she took 2nd place in the competition. Lilland's mark is the top jump in the MIAC and is 32nd on the Division III honor roll.
Jireh Babalola ran well in the short sprints, despite the wind chill hovering around 28 degrees. Babalola ran 12.43 to win the 100m dash. Babalola came back to finish 4th in the 200m in a time of 27.13, just .01 behind teammate Hailey Gregg (27.12) who took 3rd place.
Annessa Ihde charged to victory in the 1500m by kicking past the leaders in the final lap, winning in 4:46.36. This is Ihde's 3rd consecutive victory as she won the 800m and the 4x400m relay last week at the Bethel Invite.
Ellie Hernes earned 2nd place in the long jump as she became the MIAC leader with a leap of 5.22m / 17'1.5". That jump is the 7th best in program history.
The Royals added more all-time marks thanks to the throwers. Freshman Nora Wilhelm threw a personal best 12.80m / 42'0" in the shot put to take 4th place. That toss is the 3rd furthest in program history and is the 42nd best in Division III this year. Molly Lukenbill took 3rd place in the hammer throw, tossing the 2nd best throw in program history 45.78 / 150'2".
Bethel had top finishes from Hannah King and Allie Stackhouse in the 100m hurdles. King was 2nd in a personal best 16.64 and Stackhouse was 3rd in 16.91. Kelsie Sealock took 3rd (33.m / 110'9") in the javelin, just ahead of teammate Abbie Swenson in 4th (33.26m / 109'1"). Makenna Brown was 3rd in the 400m in 1:01.73 and Hailey Scholten was 3rd in the 400m hurdles in 1:14.70.
The Royals will have a busy week upcoming as the team will be split between several meets. Here is the competition schedule:
