Kayla Simacek was named the MIAC Pitcher of the Week. It's her third weekly conference accolade of the season.
She shined in the circle picking up all four wins in complete-game fashion for the Royals against Concordia and No. 13th-ranked Saint Benedict. In 26 innings of work, she gave up two runs, one walk and struck out 41 batters with opponents hitting .161 against her. Against the Cobbers she struck out 15 in game one and 14 in game two tossing shutouts in both games. At Saint Ben's she struck out eight in game one and four in game two while giving up one run in each game and walking none.
Simacek leads the national in strikeouts with 204, ranks sixth with 15 complete games and is 13th with a 0.53 walks allowed per seven innings mark.
They Royals are back in action Tuesday, April 18 at St. Catherine.
