LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Bethel University women's track and field team rolled out historic performances at the Mark Guthrie Legacy Invitational at UW-La Crosse on Saturday, February 4.
Kelsie Sealock ran a Division III top-10 all-time mark in the 60m hurdles. Sealock raced to a time of 8.53 seconds, which is the sixth fastest mark in Division III history. That time is also a program records and she is currently ranked third in Division III this year.
At the end of the day, Sealock,
Grace Robinson,
Annessa Ihde, and
Mikayla Turek came together to run 3:58.83 for second place. That time is the ninth fastest in Division III this year and is the best time by a MIAC team.
Freshman
Ellie Hernes set the school record in the triple jump for the second consecutive week. Hernes placed second with a personal best leap of 11.68m / 38'4". That mark is currently ranked 10th in Division III. Hernes also had a personal best in the 60m hurdles, running 9.45 seconds, the seventh best time in program history.
Turek had a terrific season opener in the 400m dash, prior to anchoring the 4x400m relay. Turek took fifth place in a time of 59.65. That is the 38th fastest in Division III and the second fastest in the MIAC this season.
Annessa Ihde raced the mile for the first time in her career on Saturday. Ihde went out with the leaders and was rewarded with a third place finish. Her time of 5:10.36 is the fifth fastest in program history.
Jessica Lilland set a new standard in the MIAC for women's pole vault. In her first meet of the year, Lilland cleared 3.41m / 11'2.5", which is the top jump in the MIAC.
The Royals got a pair of fifth place finishes from
Sarah Stellmach and
Anna Cargill. Stellmach ran an indoor personal best of 26.13 in the 200m, which stands as the second fastest in the MIAC this year. Cargill ran an indoor best of 2:25.53 in the 800m, winning her heat of the 800m.
The Royals will continue competing next week at the UW-Stout Invite on Friday, February 10
