Royals Outshined by Warhawks

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Bethel University volleyball team dropped a game to WIAC opponent University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in three straight sets on Saturday afternoon. The Royals lost by scores of 25-18, 25-12, and 25-17. Royals fall to 4-12 (2-3).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
First Set
• Royals could not find consistent play on offense as they tailed a .159 hitting percentage while the Warhawks boasted a .316 of their own
• UWW lead the set in offense with 15 kills to BU's 12
• Set one consisted of eight ties, and six lead changes
• With the Royals at a 10-9 lead, the Warhawks would go on a 12-5 run to take a 21-15 lead and grasp command of set two

Second Set
• The Warhawks once again controlled on both ends, keeping the Royals to a -.031 hitting percentage, while they had a .314
• The Royals lead twice at 3-2 and 6-5, but could not stay with the Warhawks, as they would only go on to score 6 more points in the set
• UWW dominated the second half of the set, with a 11-9 lead, they would go on a 14-3 run to end the set and take control of the game

Third Set
• UWW would jump out to a 7-2 lead, BU would then respond with a 4-0 run, putting the score at 7-6 Warhawks
• Warhawks would go on two set and game deciding runs; with the game at 7-6, UWW would go on a 8-1 run and then with the score at 16-10 they would go on a 5-0 run
• The final set of the afternoon consisted of defensive play, as both BU and UWW had hitting percentages of .071 and .175 respectively

WHAT'S NEXT
The Royals are back at it on Wednesday, October 11 when they take on the St. Scholastica at home in the Robertson Center. The game is scheduled for 7 PM.
