MINNEAPOLIS – For the third straight match the Bethel University women's soccer team was shutout, this time by Augsburg on the road, 3-0. Now on a three-match losing skid, the Royals fall to 3-5-2 on the year and 1-4-0 in MIAC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg broke through on the scoreboard first scoring in the 17th minute. A one touch pass off a throw-in set up the Auggies' Megan Hensel for a point blank strike from eight yards out.
•
Jessica Oliver nearly found the equalizer in the 27th minute as her header off a corner kick hit the top crossbar. A rebound attempt from
Anna Sukle was blocked and eventually cleared out by Augsburg.
• Despite four first-half corner kicks and an even 4-4 shots on goal battle, BU trailed 1-0 at the break.
• The Auggies made it 2-0 in the 59th minute as BU's back line failed to clear out a cross from the far corner. Augsburg got a centering pass before putting it in the back of the net from 11 yards out.
• Opportunities were there for BU six shots, two that were on target but couldn't connect, over the next 13 minutes.
• During that stretch the Auggies added a third goal in the 66th minute.
