NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Bethel University women's track & field team won three event titles and set a program record at the St. Olaf Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 28.
Ellie Hernes set the program record in the triple jump with her mark of11.39m / 37'4.5", which placed her 2nd overall. That jump broke the old mark from 2020 set by
Grace Perrenoud. Hermes is currently ranked 20th in Division III in the triple jump. Before the end of the day, Hermes added another 2nd place finish by jumping 5.21m / 17'1.25" in the long jump.
Bethel had a clean swept of the top 3 spots in the 600m.
Grace Robinson finished strong and pulled away from the field in the final 200m to take the win in 1:39.72. That is the 10th best time in program history and the 2nd fastest in the MIAC this year.
Mikayla Turek took 2nd place in 1:41.11, and
Evie Hage was 3rd in 1:44.67.
The Royals earned 2 victories in the distance events on Saturday. Captain
Anna Decker led from wire-to-wire and won the 1000m run in a time of 3:17. Decker also took 2nd place earlier in the day in the mile with a personal best time of 5:29.12. Freshman
Madison Stackhouse earned the first victory of her collegiate career by winning the 3000m run in comeback fashion with a time of 11:20.36. Teammate
Raina Moorjani took 3rd place in a time of 11:26.98.
Emma Roethler had a big day for the Royals in the throwing events. Roethler had a pair of runner-up finishes by throwing 13.28m / 43'7" in the shot put, and a lifetime best of 14.06m / 46'0.5" in the weight throw.
Bethel's
Anna Cargill earned 2nd place in her first collegiate 800m race running 2:26.70. Teammate
Ruby Gernandt took 3rd in a time of 2:28.85.
Hannah Moe added a 2nd place finish with a season best in the high jump of 1.45m / 4'9".
Jireh Babalola took 2nd place in the 60m dash with a time of 8.03 seconds.
Hannah King was 3rd in the 60m hurdles in 9.98 seconds.
The Royals will travel to UW-LaCrosse next week for the Mark Guthrie Legacy Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 4.
