WINONA, Minn. – The Bethel University men's hockey team trailed 2-1 heading into the third period on Saturday at Saint Mary's Mid way through
Luke Posner was able to tie it up before the Cardinals got the overtime win, 3-2.
Bethel falls to 10-10-1 on the year and 5-6-1 in MIAC play and sit third with 19 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Mary's took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission scoring eight minutes in and leading the shot battle 13-9.
•
Ben Ward tied it up at the 11:27 mark but that even mark didn't last for long.
• The Cardinals took the lead back five minutes later with a penalty shot goal after
Spencer Kring was whistled for hooking. It was the only penalty the Royals had to kill for the night.
•
Luke Posner put the Royals right back in it with the equalizer just over midway into the third.
• The Cardinals earned the extra point in the MIAC standings scoring less than three minutes into the 3-on-3 overtime.
