Hanson Picks Up Second Straight Shutout, Royals Defeat SMU

WINONA, Minn. – Winners now of three of its last four games, the Bethel University women's hockey team picked up a 2-0 victory at Saint Mary's Friday evening behind a 32-save, shutout performance from netminder Anna Hanson.

HOW IT HAPPENED
McKayla Machlitt scored Bethel's first goal less than 90 seconds into the game.
• Hanson had picked up five saves just six minutes in including a big pad save on a 1-v-1 rush by the Cardinals.
• Midway through the second Lexi DeBace made it 2-0 with a wrist shot from the slot that soared past the SMU netminder.
• Hanson tallied 15 saves in the second period alone, 13 of those coming prior to DeBace's goal.
• Both teams were kept scoreless in the third with SMU finishing the night on top in the shots department 32-22.
• Bethel's penalty kill fended off two SMU man advantages in a game that only saw three penalties called.
