Sprint Medley Sets School Record at Drake Relays

DRAKE RELAYS

The women's sprint medley relay team broke the school record and the women's 4x400m relay team earned a top-10 nationally ranked time at the Drake Relays this weekend. The sprint medley relay team of Hannah Sankey (200m), Britta Nordberg (200m), Mikayla Turek (400m), and Annessa Ihde (800m), ran a record time of 4:05.76, which placed them 5th overall. 

The 4x400m relay team of Hannah Sankey, Britta Nordberg, Mikayla Turek, and Kelsie Sealock ran a season best 3:50.98 and took 9th overall. That time ranks them 8th on the Division III honor roll, and is the 4th fastest in program history. 

Kelsie Sealock ran her first 100m hurdle race of the season on the big stage of the Blue Oval. Sealock placed 18th overall. Her time of 14.44 is the 13th best time in Division III this season.

Ruby Gernandt, Malakai Holloway, Grace Cole, and Annessa Ihde teamed up in the 4x800m relay for the Royals. They placed 9th overall with their time of 9:32.59, which stands as the 7th fastest in program history.

GUSTAVUS

Jireh Babalola was the champion in the 200m at Gustavus. Her time of 26.38 is a lifetime best. Makenna Brown was 6th in 27.18 and Hailey Gregg took 8th in 27.38. Babalola was also the runner-up in the 100m dash as she posted an impressive 12.62 into a headwind and was the top Division III finisher.

Hailey Gregg, Jessie Smith, Caitlyn Wrzesien, and Caley Wrzesien took 1st place in the 4x400m relay at the end of the day with a time of 4:28.05.

In just the second javelin competition of her career, Abbie Swenson took home the victory with a personal best throw of 31.65m /103'10". Emma Roethler was 3rd in the discus with a throw of 34.15m / 112'0" and was also 5th in the shot put with her best toss of 11.72m / 38'5.5". Bethel placed two in the top 5 of the hammer throw. Molly Lukenbill was 4th with a personal best 40.28m / 132'2" and Alexa Ellinghuysen was 5th in 39.65m / 130'1".

Jessica Lilland and Sadie Koelz both placed for the Royals in the pole vault. Lilland was 5th as she cleared 3.43m / 11'3", and Koelz was 6th with 3.13m / 10'3.25". AnnaGrace Nelson took 6th place in the high jump with a leap of 1.55m / 5'1". 

Anna Decker took 3rd place in her debut race in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 13:31.69. Evie Hage posted a season best time in the 800m of 2:28.13, which placed her 8th overall. 

UP NEXT

The Royals enter the championships season next week as the heptathletes will compete at the MIAC Multi on Thursday and Friday, May 5-6 at Carleton College. The majority of the team will compete on Friday, May 6th at the annual Meet of the Unsaintly hosted by Hamline University.
