BLAINE, Minn. – The Bethel University men's hockey team dropped its series opener to the College of St. Scholastica Friday evening 2-0.
The Royals had their opportunities outshooting the visiting Saints 33-21. CSS had a dead even seven shots in every period while the Royals saw some of their best chances come in the second period where they fired off 17 chances on frame.
Both netminders were solid entering the third period at a scoreless tie.
Travis Allen got the nod for bethel in the crease collecting 19 saves.
The Saints broke the deadlock 54 seconds into the final period before adding their second goal of the night with just over eight minutes left.
BU added an extra attack with an empty net through the final two minutes but couldn't light up the lamp.
Both teams went 0-for-2 on the man advantage.
The series finale commences Saturday night in Duluth at 7 p.m.
