Women’s Basketball Looks to Make Deep Run in MIAC Playoffs

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Currently the MIAC's hottest team with an eight-game winning streak, the Bethel University women's basketball team is set for the MIAC Playoffs as the No. 3 seed where they host No. 6 seed Carleton Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. inside the Robertson Center.
 
The Royals finished conference play 17-5 with a .773 winning percentage and heads into the postseason with an 18-7 overall record. The winner of Tuesday night's quarterfinal matchup moves into the semifinals on Thursday against the winner of No. 2 Gustavus Adolphus and No. 7 Concordia.

SERIES HISTORY
• With two wins this season already in their pocket against Carleton, the Royals lead the all-time series 26-20, dating back to 1997, and are on 16-game winning streak against the Knights.
 
• This past Wednesday the Royals took a hard fought 67-63 decision over the Knights. This came after BU took the road game of the series in Northfield 62-46 on Jan. 12.
 
• At home the Royals are 10-13 all-time against Carleton.
 
MIAC PLAYOFF HISTORY
• Bethel is making its eighth straight appearance in the MIAC Playoffs and 12th overall. They are 7-10 all-time in the playoffs and boast a MIAC Championship crown from 2020.
 
• It will be the first-ever meeting between the Royals and Knights since the current MIAC Playoff format began in 2001.
 
I'LL TAKE THAT!
• The Royals rank sixth nationally with 378 takeaways this season. Averaging 15.1 steals per game, the MIAC leaders rank seventh nationally. BU's defense ranks first in the conference with their opponents' shooting to 34.9 percent from the floor.
 
• Bethel's all-time steals leader Bella Williams ranks third in the nation with her MIAC-leading 86 steals. She averages 3.74 takeaways per game. In Division III she is the current active career leader with 327 steals.

Courtney Nuest is fourth in the MIAC with 56 steals while Makenna Pearson is eighth with 52.
 
 REJECETED!
• Bethel ranks 10th nationally with 136 blocked shots this season. The MIAC-leaders average 5.4 rejections a game. The Royals season-high 11 blocks came nearly a week ago in the season finale against the Knights.
 
Anna Garfield is fourth in the MIAC with a team-leading 29 blocks. She's had a career-high four blocks twice this year against St. Scholastica (1/10) and St. Olaf (2/14).

• They Royals have distributed a MIAC-leading 390 assists this season averaging 15.6 a game.
 
Bella Williams leads the MIAC with 129 assists tying her for third on the Royals single-season record list.
