Royals Earn Key Road Win at St. Olaf, Complete Season Sweep of Oles

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Behind its second-best shooting performance of the year at 58.5 percent, the Bethel University men's basketball team picked up a key road victory at St. Olaf Monday evening. The Royals 81-71 win snapped the MIAC's hottest team in the Oles ending their six-game winning streak and giving BU a clean sweep in the season series.
 
Jaren Tschetter led the way with 18 points while Zach Doely wasn't too far behind him with 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting. Rounding out the double figure scorers was Tommy Jensen with 11 and Caden Boettcher with a career-high 10.
 
With the Royals outrebounding the Oles 39-30, Myles Coleman and Joey Kidder joined Tschetter with six rebounds each.
 
A strong first half set the tone for the Royals going 16-of-26 from the field with a 4-of-8 mark behind the arc. Neither team held a more than one possession lead through the first 10 minutes.
 
Dom Aguilar connected from downtown with 10:11 in the first sparking a 9-0 run that handed Bethel the lead for good. Back-to-back threes from Tschetter and Aguilar thourgh the final minute sent the Royals into the break up 42-32.
 
The Oles fought their way back into it though getting as close as 49-48 with 12:50 remaining.
 
After dominating the inside game in the first half, the Royals went right back inside with a 10-0 run opening the lead up to double digits. A three by Tschetter with 1:34 left gave BU its largest least of the night at 76-60 before the Royals final five points of the night came at the charity stripe.
 
Bethel closes out the regular season Wednesday heading back to Northfield where they take on Carleton. Tipoff of a crucial game that will determine MIAC Playoff seeding for BU is at 7 p.m.
