BLAINE, Minn. – Despite striking first on the scoreboard, the Bethel University women's hockey team fell in its season opener at home to No. 15 Aurora, 2-1. The Spartans used two unanswered through the second and third period while outshooting the Royals 36 to 25.

Ashley Hess collected 34 saves, 17 of which came in the first period.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Bethel had quite the defensive effort in a scoreless first period where they killed off two penalties and were limited to four shots on goal.
• Not long out of the intermission sophomore forward
Kallie Abrahamson fired a wrister from the left circle lighting up the lamp at the 1:28 mark.

Sydney Eckert each picked up assists.
• The Spartans evened it up at the 9:46 mark after a flurry of saves from Hess.
• Aurora took a 2-1 lead while on the power play. BU unable to clear it out let the Spartans take control skating through the slot and firing it to the back of the net.
• While BU held off the Spartans on their two third period power plays, BU was also unsuccessful in its two PP chances only mustering up one shot.
• Bethel led the shots on goal battle 9-3 in the third
