BLAINE, Minn. – Behind a strong special teams' effort and big time net minding from
Austin Ryman, the Bethel University men's hockey team turned in a dominant 4-0 victory over Gustavus Adolphus inside Bethel University Arena. BU comes away taking five of the six points that were up for grabs this weekend.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Peppering the Gustavus netminder from the early stages,
Jack Bayless was the first to get one past lighting up the lamp at 16:38.
• The Royals first penalty kill of the night couldn't have gone any better as
Luke Posner scored shorthanded.
Dylan Giorgio was able to come away with it in the zone as Posner skated down the middle of the ice getting a nice feed from Giorgio.
• Bethel saw five of its six power play opportunities come in the second. It wasn't until the Royals had 5-on-3 where
Spencer Kring made it 3-0 with just under six minutes left in the second.
•
Justin Kelley scored BU's second shorthander of the night 1:41 into the third. Kelley would score the rebound shot on the doorstep of the GAC netminder.
• In his first collegiate shutout, Ryman collected 19 saves.
• The shot chart for BU was full of grade A chances in route to out shooting the Gusties 44-19.
