BLAINE, Minn. – Freshman forward
Jack Brown could not have picked a better time for his first collegiate goal as a Royal. Scoring 52 seconds into overtime, Brown lifted the Bethel University men's hockey team to a 4-3 victory over No. 15th-ranked Wisconsin-Eau Claire Saturday evening inside of Bethel University Arena in front of 300-plus.
An incredible pad save on one end by freshman netminder
Austin Ryman allowed the Royals to skate the other way as senior forward
Dylan Giorgio fed it up to freshman forward
Jack Brown. Brown skated into the UWEC zone moving from the right to left and splitting a pair of Blugolds skaters before the wrist shot sailed past the opposing netminder.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Wisconsin-Eau Claire wasted no time getting on the board scoring 2:01 into the contest.
• After killing off UWEC's only power play of the night,
Tyler Braccini evened it up 7:03 into the first. Same Wilhite and
Braeden Bartoo each picked up the assist.
• The scoring wasn't done yet as BU connected on the first of its two power plays of the night. 51 seconds after Braccini,
Dylan Giorgio added his first goal of the year giving the Royals a 2-1 lead at the break.
• Despite outshooting the Blugolds 14-8 in the second, the Royals surrendered the equalizer at the 6:17 mark.
• BU was successful once again on the man advantage this time seeing
Jarrett Cammarata light up the lamp 5:27 into the third.
• The lead didn't last long as UWEC tied it up 1:23 later.
• Ryman had to make three of his 25 saves over the final three minutes of regulation.
