RESULTS
NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Royals won 6 events and sophomore AnnaGrace Nelson broke the school record in her first ever pentathlon at the St. Olaf Quad this weekend. Nelson won the meet with a MIAC leading score of 2964, which ranks her 10th in Division III. She competed in the 60m hurdles (9.48), high jump (1.56m / 5'1.5"), shot put (7.85m / 25'9"), long jump (4.98m / 16'4"), and 800m (2:44.84). Here is how the rest of the meet broke down:
SPRINTS
Sarah Stellmach led the way for Bethel in the sprints on Friday evening. Stellmach, in her first meet as a Royal won the 200m in 26.81, beating out teammate Britta Nordberg who took 2nd in 27.34. Stellmach also took 2nd in the 60m dash. Her time of 8.04 is the 2nd fastest time in the MIAC this year. Ally Stackhouse ran a personal best in the 60m hurdles to take 3rd place with her time of 10.22.
DISTANCE
For the 2nd week in a row, Mikayla Turek and Annessa Ihde went 1-2 in the 600m run.This week, Turek led from wire-to-wire to win in a MIAC leading time of 1:40.74. Ihde took 2nd in 1:41.25, the 3rd best time in the MIAC. Captain Grace Cole won the mile in a time of 5:29.03, as she commanded the race from the gun.First year Bethel runner, Mikayla Erlenborn took 3rd place in the 3000m run with a time of 10:47.59.
FIELD
Senior Sadie Koelz jumped a season best of 3.24m / 10'7.5" in the pole vault. That is the 3rd best jump in the MIAC this season. Grace Perrenoud jumped a season best 10.64m / 34'11.25" in the triple jump, good enough for 3rd place. Emma Roethler earned another 3rd place finish for the Royals in the shot put with her throw of 12.05m / 39'6.5".
RELAYS
The Royals stayed undefeated in the 4x400m relay winning this week by 6 seconds. The team of Makenna Brown, Britta Nordberg, Annessa Ihde, and Mikayla Turek won the race in 4:06.74. That time stands as the best in the MIAC and the 16th best in Division III this year.
UP NEXT
The Royals will host the Gene Glader Classic on Saturday, February 5th, in the Sport & Recreation Center on campus. For the first time this year, fans will be allowed at the meet and will be required to wear a mask.
