NORTHFIELD, Minn. – A balanced scoring attack in the second half helped the Bethel University women's basketball team pull away from Carleton Wednesday evening in West Gym 62-46.
Â
Makenna Pearson led with a game-high 18 points large in part to knocking down four treys.
Hayden Glander produced 14 points and eight rebounds while
Kendal Cox added 10 points off the bench.
Â
A fast-paced opening quarter saw the Royals hold an 18-17 advantage as Pearson and Glander combined for three long balls in the quarter. The Knights got within one on three separate occasions in the second until the Royals went on a 7-0 run.
Â
BU's lead reached double digits on a pair of Pearson free throws until the Knights completed a three-point play on the other end before the break where it was 36-28 Bethel.
Â
Glander put back the second chance opportunity to start the third, but Carleton's 7-0 run of its own pulled it back with a possession. Trading off buckets,
Olivia Williams pushed the lead back to double digits with just over a minute left in the third.
Â
Bethel's pesky defense did the rest of the work holding the Knights to no free throws and two field goals in the fourth.
Â
Glander's final bucket of the night with 3:19 remaining capped a 10-0 run giving BU its largest lead of the night at 62-41.
Â
Improving to 8-5 on the year and 7-3 in MIAC play with their seventh straight win, the Royals hit the road Saturday traveling to Macalester. In accordance with Macalester's current spectator policy, no fans will be admitted to Saturday's 1 p.m. game. Live video and stats links can be accessed on the
