ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – A slow shooting start offensively for the Bethel University men's basketball team created a deficit too big to overcome dropping Wednesday's MIAC contest with Carleton, 65-55.
Â
Myles Coleman was BU's leading scorer with 14 points while
Zach Doely put in another double-double performance with 13 points and 11 boards.
Joey Kidder grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds.
Â
The Royals had their biggest lead of the night at 9-5 with 12:58 on a Doely hook shot. But that would be the only bucket over the next eight-plus minutes for the Royals. Carleton went on a 15-0 run in the process before
Isaiah Rollins knocked down BU's only three of the half.
Â
BU shot a mere 28 percent in the first 20 minutes going into the locker room trailing 30-17.
Â
Fresh off an 18-point comeback Monday at St. Scholastica, a turnaround in offense wasn't out of the picture in the second half. While the Knights' lead grew to as many as 20 with 12:42 left.
Â
The Royals chipped away getting as close as nine on a driving layup from Rollins, but time was not on Bethel's side as remaining 27 seconds ticked away. BU shot 51.7 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes going 15-of-29.
Â
Bethel looks to bounce back Saturday at Macalester with a 3 p.m. start time. In accordance with Macalester's spectator policy, no fans will be admitted. Live video and stats links can be found by visiting the
