Offensive Performance Keeps Royals Unbeaten, Defeat Wisconsin-Superior 4-2

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Bethel University men's soccer team opened its six-match homestand with a 4-2 non-conference victory of Wisconsin-Superior Wednesday afternoon at Ona Orth Athletic Complex.

Matthias Caspari tallied his second multi-goal effort of the season scoring on both of his two shots on goal for the game.

Putting BU on the board, Caspari threaded the needle slipping it between a small window of opportunity between the UWS keeper and the near side post. He made it 2-0 over seven minutes later heading one inside the back post off a Zach Caouette throw-in from the far side.

The Yellowjackets scored 47 seconds into the second half cutting the Bethel lead to a goal. While it seemed as if Wisconsin-Superior was going to control the second half, BU capitalized on another set piece.

This time it was Keegan Mellema heading in a free kick off the foot of LaFrombois that came from just over the other side of midfield.

Jack Hanson made it 4-1 in the 80th minute when we caught the UWS back line off guard. A strong press from Hanson gave him an opportunity for a takeaway right out of the feet of a near ballhandler before beating the Yellowjackets' goalie one-on-one.

UWS added a second goal in the 86th minute but the offensive onslaught had already put Bethel in a position to remain unbeaten.

BU narrowly outshot UWS 15-13 while holding the edge for shots on frame 10-8. Netminder Colin Hupert tallied six saves between the posts.

The Royals return to the pitch Friday hosting Maranatha Baptist at 4 p.m.
