ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Off to its second 4-0 start in three seasons, the Bethel University men's soccer team picked up its first shutout of the season blanking Maranatha Baptist Friday evening at Ona Orth Athletic Complex.
Jack Hanson scored the lone goal in the first half, despite 15 shots from the Royals. Hanson scored his second of the season finishing a nice cross from
Austin Heckmann.
Bethel's back line allowed one shot on goal, which came in the first half, and did not allow a single look to the Sabercats in the final 45 minutes.
The Royals pelted the MBU goalkeeper in the second half before getting one past him in the 61
st minute.
Matthias Caspari netted his team-leading fifth goal of the season on an assist from
Zach Caouette.
Ben Richburg added a pair of insurance goals, his first two of the season, scoring off his own rebound in the 80
th minute before scoring again under a minute later. Heckmann picked up his second assist of the night feeding Richburg from the right side.
BU continues its home stretch Sunday hosting Bethany Lutheran at 2 p.m.
