ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Three unanswered goals paced the way for the Bethel University women's soccer team to pick up a 3-1 victory over Hamline Saturday afternoon at Ona Orth Athletic Complex.
BU saw three different goal scorers in
Rachel Waterman,
Lauren Davis and
Kelsey Bergan.
The visiting Pipers struck 24 minutes into the match, tapping in a rebound from a shot off the crossbar.
Rachel Waterman put Bethel on the board soon after in the 30th minute after a free kick from midfield by
Abby Swanda bounced in the box and Waterman shot five yards out.
Following the break,
Lauren Davis broke the tie in the 51st minute, taking a shot at the top of the box into the upper 90.
Tessah Anderson tallied the assist.
BU added an insurance goal off the foot of Bergan after receiving a cross pass from Waterman. Bergan took the shot at the top of the box, past a defender securing their lead just before the end of the match in the 84th minute.
Although Hamline had 18 shots compared to Bethels 17, the Royals walked away with 10 shots on goal and six saves made by
Izzy Smith.
The Royals are on the road Wednesday taking on Macalester, Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
