ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Bethel University men's soccer earned a 3-1 bounce back win over non-conference opponent Crown College Tuesday evening at Ona Orth Athletic Complex.
From the beginning the Royals kept a strong defense as their offense battled a tough Crown goalkeeper that kept it 0-0 at the half.
BU dominated the second half where 30 of its 43 shots were taken. On the other end they allowed Crown to three shots, two of which were on frame.
Making his collegiate debut,
Youssef Abdallah scored Bethel's first goal in the 47th minute off a through ball from
Isaac Howell. Abdallah beat the goalkeeper to the ball and made his way to an open net. His second goal took place just 10 minutes after the first. With another assist by Howell, Abdallah netted the rebound after Howell's shot bounced off the crossbar.
The Royals held their opponent until the 79th minute when a Storm player tapped one in. Bethel responded quickly with a goal from
Ben Richburg after a shot by
Jack Hanson was saved by the Crown keeper and pushed right to Richburg for the finish.
The Royals return to the pitch at Ona Orth Athletic Complex Saturday, Sept. 25 against Hamline at 12:30 p.m.
