STARTING FIVE
1) Wednesday night's contest will be the first of a home-and-home series with Saint Mary's. Tonight's contest serves as the conference matchup before the two teams meet up again Saturday in Arden Hills. Saturday will be a non-conference matchup that was originally scheduled for March 3, but moved up to accommodate future scheduling.
2) The Royals overcame a 21-point deficit last Thursday en route to an 85-79 overtime victory over Augsburg, making it the largest comeback victory in the
Doug Novak era. Augsburg held a 56-35 lead with 12:45 reamining before a 3-pointer by
Chandler Wellman at the 6:18 marked sparked an 18-0 run forcing overtime.
3) Bethel caught fire from behind the arc last Thursday knocking down 19 treys while shooting 43.2 percent behind the arc. Those 19 treys are the most in a game since the Royals hit a MICA-record 23 at Macalester on February 14, 2018. It's also the second most made since
Doug Novak took over as head coach at the start of the 2013-14 season.
4) Three different Royals put up career-high numbers in the win over Augsburg. In his first career start,
Isaiah Rollins poured in 15 points and five assists scoring 10 of BU's 18 points during its late second half run.
Noah Whalen narrowly eclipsed his previous mark scoring 17 points while going 4-for-10 behind the arc.
Jaren Tschetter took advantage of hitting a couple treys en route to a 15-point performance along with five rebounds.
5) It will be the 91st meeting between the two MIAC foes. Despite BU leading 66-24, Saint Mary's has won the last two matchups the most recent coming in the MIAC Quarterfinals, 72-59. Prior to that, Bethel held a 14-game winning streak which dated back to 2013. Saturday's non-conference matchup will be just the second time that the two meet for a game not counted toward the MIAC standings.
