ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Bethel University men's basketball team announced that its previously scheduled conference game with Augsburg on Feb. 24 will now be played tomorrow evening Thursday, Feb. 11. Tip-off is still scheduled for 7 p.m. inside the Robertson Center.
STARTING FIVE
1) Stay positive. Test negative. Staying positive has been key with the Royals having their last two matchups postponed due to COVID-19 testing protocols. Bethel has diligently worked to make a matchup happen with Augsburg Thursday evening. Previously scheduled to play a conference contest on 2/24, that game is now being played on Thursday, Feb. 11. Tip-off inside the Robertson Center comes at 7 p.m. and will be the only MIAC game in action that night.
2) Senior
Isaiah Carver-Bagley picked up right where he left off scoring a game-high 16 points last Saturday against Hamline. Carver-Bagley kept Bethel in it early scoring BU's first 11 points while hitting four of BU's six 3-pointers. Carver-Bagley averaged 14.0 points per game last season shooting 49.4 percent from the field and 41 percent from behind the arc.
3) Freshman
Joey Kidder put in quality minutes during his Bethel debut. In 38 minutes of action the New Richmond, Wis. native grabbed nine boards and five points. Kidder became the first freshman since Derek Magnuson (2015-16) to start in their collegiate debut for the Royals.
4) Bethel looks to carry over its "road warrior" mentality from last season where they went 10-3. The Royals won their first 10 games on the road before falling to No. 4-ranked Saint John's in Collegeville. In the last four seasons, BU has gone 37-15 in true road games.
5) Thursday's matchup will be the 96th all-time. It has been a back and forth affair between to the two MIAC foes over the last 10 matchups where they have split the results 5-5. Each team picked up wins on their opponent's court last season where Augsburg took the opener 80-75 and Bethel winning in Minneapolis 83-66 with five players in double-digit scoring figures.
