Royals Best Wisconsin-Superior with Four in Double Figures

SUPERIOR, Wis. – Picking up its first road win of the year, the Bethel University men's basketball team saw four starters put up double figures in the scoring column in its 64-51 victory at Wisconsin-Superior.

Once again it was Jaren Tschetter and Zach Doely pacing the Bethel offense with 15 and 14 points respectively. Not too far behind them were Tommy Jensen and Sam Nelson with 11 and 10 each. Tschetter was a rebound shy of a double-double with a game-high nine.

The Royals dominated the stat sheet leading the points in the paint battle (38-22), fast break points (15-0) points off turnovers (20-2) and rebounds (38-27) to name a few.

Bethel (4-3) did their damage in the second half shooting 50 percent from the field (14-of-28) and getting it inside the lane where 24 of its 32 points were produced.

A three-point halftime lead turned into double digits with six minutes remaining with a second chance bucket form Joey Kidder. A trip later down the floor, Nelson gave the Royals their largest lead at 56-43 on a driving layup.

Wisconsin-Superior (2-4) got it as close as seven down the stretch before BU scored eight of the game's final 10 points.

The first half was truly a back-and-forth affair that saw neither team hold a lead larger than three. In the 20-minute span, there were 14 ties and six lead changes while BU never trailed in the final six minutes before the break.

Returning to the Robertson Center, where BU is 3-1 this year, the Royals host Concordia for a MIAC tilt on Wednesday evening at 7:45 p.m.
