Season-High 83 Points Earns Royals a Victory over Concordia

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Domination in the paint and a big second half shooting performance led the Bethel University men's basketball team to an 83-60 win over Concordia Wednesday evening inside the Robertson Center.

The Royals produced 52 of their season-high 83 inside the paint allowing only 26 on the other end. BU had 19 points in transition while turning the Cobbers 19 turnovers into 21 points.

Jaren Tschetter had a career-high 21 points while Tommy Jensen matched his career-high also with 21. Zach Doely chipped in 19 points with three dunks on the night and added a game-high eight rebounds. Joey Kidder also added eight boards.

Concordia dwindled Bethel's 37-24 halftime lead down to six with 13:44 to go. The Royals responded getting the lead back to double digits on a second chance opportunity for Tschetter. Getting to the charity stripe off the inside game, the lead grew as Tschetter put BU's margin at 77-57 with 2:09 to go.

The Royals finished the night shooting 54.2 percent (32-of-59) from the field.

BU only trailed for 40 seconds before gaining the lead for good 14:16 into the first with a floater from Jensen. A three ball from Tschetter pushed the lead to double digits where BU led by 19 on two separate occasions before taking a 13-point advantage into the break.

Now 5-3 on the year and 2-2 in MIAC play, Bethel travels for an early key MIAC matchup with Saint Mary's on Saturday. The Cardinals are an even 3-3 on the year coming off back-to-back conference wins over St. Scholastica and St. Olaf.
