ST. PETER, Minn. – The Bethel University women's soccer team suffered its sixth straight loss, the fourth this season by one goal, in a hard-fought double overtime battle at Gustavus Adolphus, 1-0.
The host Gusties put the game-winner in the back of the net on a shot from the right side in the 106th minute.
There was no shortage of opportunities for either team as Bethel was outshot 24-17 and 17-12 in shots on goal.
Izzy Smith did everything she could to keep Bethel in it falling a save shy of her career high with 15.
BU's defense kept the Gusties inline keeping them off the board on all nine corner kick opportunities.
Smith forced it into a second overtime on a big diving save with just under a minute to go. BU's defense made one more big stand as Gustavus had a corner kick opportunity with 10 seconds left.
After 10 second half shots and two in the first overtime, BU was kept without a shot in the second overtime.
Bethel returns to Ona Orth for its home finale Wednesday hosting Concordia for senior day at 3:30 p.m.
