ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The No. 21 ranked Bethel University volleyball team saw its four-match home win streak snapped by #RV Gustavus Adolphus Saturday night inside the Robertson Center. The Gusties used fast starts in all three sets giving BU its first MIAC loss by sores of 25-15, 25-22, 25-16.
Â
Allie Fauth led the Royals with 11 kills while
Abigail Drury tallied four block assists. BU was held to a .140 hitting percentage while the Gusties hit 351.
Â
Give credit where credit is due, the Gusties came into a packed Robertson Center of 350-plus fans and made some noise of their own early. A fast 6-1 start gave them plenty of room holding the lead the entire way. Bethel pulled within 14-11 but would get no closer in the opening set.
Â
Another fast start for GAC at 6-0 in the second put Bethel behind the eight-ball. The Royals didn't go down easy tying it up three times late including a 20-20 score. A kill by
Danielle Friedges pulled BU within 23-22 before back-to-back kill for the Gusties put them up 2-0.
Â
The Royals couldn't recover from a 7-0 deficit in the third scoring back-to-back points only twice in the set.
Â
Bethel looks to rebound Wednesday at Carleton. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
