INDIANAPOLIS – Women's Track and Field standout Delia Labatt has been awarded the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship for the spring of 2020. The scholarship awards Labatt $10,000 to apply towards a postgraduate degree.
Bethel has reached an incredible mark of four student-athletes receiving the scholarship this academic year, which is an institutional and MIAC record. The Royals have had 17 student-athletes receive the honor in total.
 
A 2020 graduate and Cushing, Wis. native, Labatt is a seven-time All-American and was part of the 4x400m relay squad that placed third at the indoor national meet and fourth at the outdoor national meet during the 2019 season. A three-time indoor MIAC Champion in the 400m dash, she recorded a first-place finish in the same event at the outdoor MIAC meet in 2018 while coming in as runner-up in 2019. She was a strong presence in the 4x4 relay who were 2020 indoor and 2019 outdoor MIAC champions.

Labatt's name is etched in the Royals record books holding the 400m indoor (55.91) and outdoor (55.86) record. She is also part of both 4x4 relays that hold the top times for the program's indoor and outdoor season.

A four-year member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, she is a biokinetics major with an emphasis in bioenergetics and has been named to the Dean's List all eight semesters as well as graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors. She is a three-time USTFCCCA Academic All-American and Academic All-Conference honoree. Most recently she was informed that she and her research partner successfully published their case study "Aerobic Glycolysis Couples Metabolic Syndrome to Alzheimer's Disease" in the Journal of Metabolic Syndrome. She also has spent time volunteering at Big Brothers Big Sisters, Valentine Hills school and Special Olympics.
 
Labatt's nomination was supported with a letter of endorsement from faculty member Dr. Kelly Gibas.
