Urbanus Unleashes for Career-High against Macalester

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Senior guard Hudson Urbanus got off to a hot start before finishing with a career-high 21 points in the Bethel University men's basketball team's 82-63 victory over Macalester Saturday afternoon inside the Robertson Center.

With four players in double digit scoring figures, the Royals extended their winning streak to three games moving to 13-6 on the year and 10-4 in MIAC play. Bethel returns to the Robertson Center next Wednesday against Concordia. Tip-off is set for 5:45 p.m.

Urbanus put up 14 of his 21 in the first half finishing the game with three makes from deep. Jack Jenson finished with 17 points and four assists while Isaiah-Carver Bagley added 14 points and Chandler Wellman with 13 respectively. Jamal Davis had a complete stat line with nine points, five assists, four steals and three blocks.

Bethel led from wire-to-wire as Carver-Bagley scored the Royals first five points. Urbanus began his tear scoring the next two buckets before sinking a three-ball giving the Royals their largest lead of the half at 26-11.

Wellman picked up his only offensive board connecting on the put back just before the horn giving BU a 38-29 lead at the break. The scoring was distributed evenly in the second half where Wellman picked up where he left off hitting all five of his attempts.

A 3-pointer form Isaiah Rollins with 13:16 remaining gave BU its largest margin of the game at 58-34. The Royals were hot from the field hitting 75 percent (18-of-24) of their shots in the second half.

BU held the advantage on inside scoring by a 50-32 margin while its perimeter defense limited the Scots to four treys on 16 attempts.
