ST. PAUL, Minn. – Facing its second straight top-10 matchup in three days, the Bethel University men's basketball team dropped a 69-50 decision to No. 9 St. Thomas on the road Monday evening.
The Tommies held Bethel to a season-low 50 points and 3-of-19 (15.8 percent) shooting from 3-point range dropping them to 10-6 on the year and 7-4 in MIAC play. The Royals return to the Robertson Center Wednesday against Carleton at 7 p.m.
Senior guard
Hudson Urbanus had a season-high 18 points on 5-of-10 shooting.
Chandler Wellman finished with nine points going a perfect 4-for-4 from the floor and five rebounds.
Jack Jenson and
Isaiah Carver-Bagley each had six points while Carver-Bagley brought in a team-leading six boards.
Urbanus had Bethel's first eight points of the game while the Tommies shot 53.8 percent in the first half. UST knocked down four first-half 3-pointers leading BU 37-22 at the break.
A pair of buckets from Wellman got the Royals within 37-26 with 17:47 left but the Tommies were consistent in their hot shooting ways. UST's largest lead came at the 2:38 mark opening up its margin to 21 points.
