COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Bethel University men's basketball team suffered its first loss on the road this season at the hands of No. 4th-ranked Saint John's, 88-60.
The Royals had a tough shooting night from 3-point range going 4-of-25 (16.0 percent) dropping them to 10-5 on the year and 7-3 in MIAC play. The Royals are faced with another tough road task, traveling to No. 9 St. Thomas on Monday. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
Hudson Urbanus and
Isaiah Carver-Bagley each had a team-leading 15 points while Carver-Bagley grabbed a team-leading four boards.
Jamal Davis added 11 points while
Drew Wynia had eight.
Saint John's shot a season-best 61.1 percent from 3-point range (11-of-18) giving them the advantage from wire-to-wire. They took a 21-point lead into the break before the Royals had a better offensive performance in the second half.
Urbanus scored on BU's second half opening possession but the Johnnies could not be contained responding with a three-ball on the other end. A 3-pointer from Carver-Bagley got the Royals within 52-37 with 14:20 remaining, but BU would get no closer.
