NORTH MANKATO, Minn. – It was another dominate offensive performance for the Bethel University women's soccer team who defeated Bethany Lutheran 9-0 Wednesday evening. Junior
Sophie Kendall and sophomore
Lauren Davis each netted a pair of goals while
Rachel Waterman,
Tessah Anderson and
Caela Helgemo each tallied a pair of assists.
The Royals improve to 3-0 and return to Arden Hills with three straight shutouts. BU is back in action Saturday at Ona Orth where they host Wisconsin-Stout. First touch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Bethel wasted no time getting on the board scoring 1:43 into the match. Kendall netted her first of the game with Anderson picking up the assist. In the 11th minute,
Adri Tjeerdsma played a nice through ball to Davis who drew the BLC goalkeeper out before taking one touch sending it to the back of the net. Kendall scored her second of the match four minutes later pushing the Royal lead to 3-0.
Brooke Ogne headed in her second goal of the year before Waterman connected on a one touch score sending Bethel into the locker room with a 5-0 lead.
Leah Vigil and Anderson both scored early in the second half making it 7-0. Bethel executed its set pieces out of the corner in the 72nd and 86th minute with Helgemo and Davis pushing it to 9-0.
The Royals outshot the Vikings 45-1, 24 of which were on goal. The Vikings lone shot in the match was on goal and stopped by
Kaylee Peterson in the first half.
Teegan Johnson and
Megan Duff both saw action between the posts in the second half.
