ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Entering Saturday the Bethel University women's soccer team had yet to allow a goal, well that saying stays true as the Royals shutout the University of Wisconsin-Stout 1-0 at Ona Orth Athletic Complex on a cloudy and rainy afternoon. The 4-0 Royals will have 10 days off before entering MIAC play on Tuesday, Sept. 17 traveling to Carleton for a 4 p.m. start.
Junior
Sophie Kendall tallied her third straight game-winning goal to give BU the victory. Coming off a restart from the other side of midfield BU worked it quickly into its attacking third.
Brooke Ogne found
Lauren Davis at the top of the box where Davis made a quick turnaround to find Kendall to her right. Playing a nice touch to beat one defender Davis sent it to the upper 90 scoring the game's only goal in the 30th minute.
Bethel held the edge in shots for the fourth straight match out shooting UW-Stout 16-4. Nine of those shots were on goal for the Royals while the lone shot on goal for the Blue Devils was stopped by
Kaylee Peterson.
The Royals were comfortable down the stretch giving UW-Stout just one look in the final 20 minutes. Bethel held possession for 51 percent of the contest working 44 percent of that time in the offensive zone.
