Men’s Basketball Earns Bounce Back win at Carleton

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Bethel University men's basketball team found its way back into the win column with a 90-74 victory at Carleton Wednesday evening.

With three players in double figures and shooting an even 50 percent (11-of-22) from 3-point range, Bethel moved to 4-2 on the year and 2-1 in conference play. The Royals travel to Macalester on Saturday, Dec. 7 for a 1 p.m. showdown with the Scots.

For the second time this season, senior Granger Kingland led Bethel in scoring with 19 points. Junior guard Jamal Davis found his stroke behind the arc shooting 4-for-6 in 31 minutes of action. Davis finished the game with 17 points, 12 of which came in the first half, and a team-high six assists. Senior guard Hudson Urbanus tallied 14 points while senior Jack Jenson had eight points and five assists.

Bethel never trailed Wednesday night as Davis hit on his first two 3-point attempts giving Bethel a 13-5 lead through the first six minutes. Carleton tied it up at 19-19 with 7:16 left before a three from Noah Whalen capped a BU 9-0 run. Carleton responded with an 8-0 run over the next minute before back-to-back threes from Urbanus and Isiah Carver-Bagley in the final 30 seconds gave BU a 45-37 lead headed to the locker room.

Out of the break Kingland dialed in from long distance on Bethel's opening possession pushing the lead to double digits. The lead remained steady around 13 until Kingland knocked down a jumper in the lane giving BU its largest lead at 74-57 with just under 10 to go.

Carleton pulled within 11 a handful of times but Bethel's already wide margin was too much for the Knights to overcome.
