NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Bethel University men's soccer team fell at the hands of St. Olaf Saturday afternoon at Rolf Mellby Field, 5-0. The host Oles used two first half goals and three insurance goals in the final 11 minutes of the second half in the victory.
Despite outshooting the Oles 7-6 in the first, Bethel found themselves trailing at the break 2-0. The Oles scored in the 14th minute before finding the back of the net in the 29th minute on a free kick from midfield.
Three early corner kicks in the second came with no results for Bethel as starting goalie
Colin Hupert made a pair of saves on the other end. Hupert made three more saves keeping the match within reach but the Royals were only able to fire off one more shot on goal coming off the foot of
Kenneth Kwan.
A goal in the 80th minute for St. Olaf that was a cross from the right side went over Hupert's hands putting the nail in the coffin. The Oles added two more in the 82nd and 86th minute.
Now 6-9-1 on the year, Bethel heads into the final week of the regular season hosting Saint John's on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. before closing out the season against Wisconsin-Superior at home a week from today.
