ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Multi-goal efforts from three different Royals fueled a 6-0 win for the Bethel University women's soccer team over Martin Luther at Ona Orth Athletic Complex. Sophomore
Rachel Waterman, senior
Brooke Ogne and junior
Sophie Kendall all netted a pair of goals in the Royals offensive efforts. Junior
Leah Vigil couldn't find the back of the net despite five shots on goal but did tally her first two assists of the year.
In its 11th shutout of the year, Bethel improves to 12-3 putting them one win away from tying the program's single-season record. The Royals head to St. Olaf Saturday taking on the Oles who sit two points under BU in the MIAC standings.
Waterman wasted no time scoring 4:22 into the match for her 10th goal of the year. Waterman tapped in the game's first goal following a nice cross from
Sierra Smith on the far side. Waterman's second goal came 49 seconds after Ogne's first goal heading in a perfect cross from Vigil.
It had been four matches since Ogne found the back of the net and today she made up for it scoring in the 23rd and 76th minute. Freshman
Hannah Hansen collected her first collegiate assist on Ogne's second goal.
Kendall got in on the scoring with her 10th and 11th goal of the year coming in back-to-back fashion but in different halves.
The defense and goalie
Kaylee Peterson were a brick wall once again allowing one shot, which was on goal, and just 32 percent possession time for the Knights compared to Bethel's 68 percent.
